École La Grande-Ourse - Logo & Mascot Design

École La Grande-Ourse is a primary school based in Smithers B.C. Canada and encourages the practice of the French language by offering a complete school programme and various educational activities. La Grande-Ourse is a reference to the Big Dipper constellation which to the indigenous peoples of North America represents a mother bear and serves as the inspiration for the school’s name and logo.

I was fortunate to be able to jump on a couple Zoom calls with the class to share with them what I do and to get them involved with helping me come up with ideas for the logo. It’s still one of the highlights of my career!

I threw together a quick worksheet called “Let’s Create a School Logo” which I left with the instructor and when I came back the next week they all got to share their ideas with me.
