A little about me
Kia ora, my name is Ryan Krason. I’m a graphic designer, illustrator, visual storyteller and all round creative problem solver. Originally from San Diego, California, I moved to Aotearoa in 2016 where I spent my first 9 years in Wellington. I now reside in Rotorua.
I've spent my career in the public sector while freelancing on the side, giving me the best of both worlds—doing the good mahi by day and stretching my creative wings at night.
I love bringing stories to life through design and helping small business compete with the big dogs and turning chaos into clarity which was often the task in public service and education—making something boring or complex easy to understand, eye catching and memorable. It’s this attention to detail that has allowed me to elevate the quality of information and imagery for nearly 20 years in a wide range of industries.
I’m all about working with other passionate people and businesses who are dedicated to their craft, doing something unique, and open to challenging the status quo to get results. If you’ve got a creative project that aligns with my work, let’s chat!
Passions
Music
When I’m not doing design work I still like to stay creative. I play guitar, write music, and am currently learning to play the drums and bass.
Food
I love to cook, having once tried out for Master Chef and made it through the first round of eliminations, it was such an awesome experience. Growing up in Southern California, Mexican food is a staple and is my go to for making meals.
Brewing
My partner started brewing beer 7 years ago and have just upgraded our home kit to make the process a little easier. We love craft beer, but we’re not snooty. Even Tui and Lion brown has it’s place.
Dogs
Yup, we’ve got fur babies. Adora, a Staffy / Sharpei cross and Esme a Japanese Spitz / Border Collie cross. They sure keep us busy and entertained and the amount of toy fluff in our house makes us wonder why we ever bother vaccuming.
The Great Outdoors
My partner and I love getting into nature with our dogs, scuba diving, and learning about native species in the areas we travel. We’ve been all over New Zealand, the United States, and are working our way around the Pacific islands.
